How to Conduct Medical Rehabilitation Research
California Rehabilitation Foundation has received funding to create the Research Mentoring Training Program. This program will provide didactic education to its participants about how to conduct medical rehabilitation research. It will also provide experienced researcher mentors to the participants and allow them to engage in a ‘learn by doing’ research program during a 12-month timeframe.
Objectives
- Educate and train clinicians in clinical rehabilitation research activities
- Encourage clinicians to continue their training and career development to become independent investigators
- Further advance the field of medical rehabilitation through needed research
Commitment
- Participate in weekly and monthly didactic/hands-on-learning sessions for 12 months plus independent learning time and carry out of study
- Complete assignments based on modules
- Participate in journal club once per month
- Develop and carry out pilot research study
- Present study during research day
Eligibility Criteria
- A practicing clinician in the adult rehabilitation setting
- A degree in a health-related field
- Able to commit to year-long course including completion of a research study
- Interest in research with an idea for a research study
